currently the only game that works on my broken ass computer. I run a corp in it for anyone interested in trying out the game. currently the games a bit dry, lots of spreadsheets in space kinda stuff. I know most of you are FPS gamers BUUUT there is a new expansion comming out as a linked game called DUST using the unreal3 engine, which lets you play as a group of mercenaries for an eve corporation or as a dust corp that simply plays completely seperate from eve online. this means corporations in eve can hire out teams of players from dust to take over territory on a planets surface while another corporation will hire them to defend.

I would renew my subscription, but my wallet is broke. Seriously, why does everything need money these days?! (Don't answer that)

Yea I read about this new addition to the Eve universe, it sounds awesome but I fear it will be implemented in a less than awesome way which tends to be the usual trend with games these days. I haven't played Eve myself but I can enjoy a good space game as long as it doesn't bore me shitless and I don't get killed every five minutes, I also only join MMO in-game groups as long as they are organised with friendly and helpful players who know how to make money without getting blown up :)
Perhaps I might download the trial version to see if it is my kind of game or not. I actually like a game that involves micro managing but only if said game aspect can be interesting, involve much profit and not be an increasingly repetitive procedure (keeping it simple and to the point is a big plus too).
The day the world went away...

eh, my corp runs prettymuch a communal profit and gear scheme, so were careful who we hire, but once your in you have the support of the whole corp when you need it.
you are pefectly safe in 40% of eve space (eve is roughly 50,000 starsystems or something crazy like that.) you can be killed in "high sec" but the guy who kills you gets pwnt by the federalis unless you did something dumb like stole shit from a cargo container he owned in space.
there are suicide ganks of course but usually you can avoid these kinds of things by flying in a group and avoiding high traffic systems. and you usually have to be carrying fuckloads of valuable stuff for your enemies to bother ganking you.
im just waiting out for incarna to be brought out. its going to have realtime radiosity!!!
(radiosity is a way of calculating light by simulating light bouncing around and gathering properties when it hits various surfaces) half life 2 does it when you compile maps, this thing is going to be doing it in real time so all light sources are affected, say you open a door it will affect the reflected light in the room, if a character walks into a pool of light from a skylight it will reflect around the room and change colour if they are wearing bright clothing.
epic.

i hear the next expansion called incarna will be much more to peoples liking who like actually being able to walk round and shit. normally when your in a space station right now you can open buy menus and upgrade your ship and look in your hanger, its basically a bunch of inventory panes unless you have the market window open... which is essentially a huge list of all the crap you can get along with the prices of each thing in nearby stations and your local area. and theres like price histories and shit for the crazy market people who buy heaps of shit, wait for prices to go high then sell tons of it. mmm incarna i should be able to open a bar and have exotic dancers and stuff. heres some media http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KQtCg6fSEI <--- pre-release fanfest vid from eve http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7R6AxoO ... re=related <---- another fanfest vid where the devs show off the current build of incarna. huge ass full length thing for fanfest 2009 - showing the next expansion called DUST being brought out for the fps gamers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNhPig8i ... re=related
